HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) is a powerful 3D printing technology that produces highly accurate and durable parts at impressive speeds. Due to its affordability, speed, and high resolution, MJF is an excellent choice for functional prototypes, bridge-to-production parts, and low-volume end-use manufacturing. It allows engineers to create robust parts and get a real-world feel for how they will perform with minimal upfront costs.
Our MJF printing service has a recommended build envelope of 15″ x 11″ x 15″ with lead times as fast as one business day. Upload your 3D CAD file to get an instant price, part analysis, and lead time.

The speed and versatility of MJF let product developers create tough and detailed physical snapshots of their designs.

MJF can be used to create fully-functional prototypes, complete with moving parts, as well as all-in-one assemblies.

The low price and speed of Multi Jet Fusion make it an ideal way to build large quantities of discrete or customized parts.
Achieve an exceptional, sealed surface finish on your MJF parts with our vapor smoothing process. This automated technology enhances the surface of printed parts, making them smooth and watertight without degrading the material’s strength or flexibility. It’s a fantastic, cost-effective way to produce parts that look and feel like injection-molded equivalents. Vapor smoothing can also be applied to parts made with other processes, like Selective Laser Sintering.
Multi Jet Fusion stands out for several key reasons. The standard build parameters are optimized for the best part density, resulting in watertight components right out of the printer.
For those needing higher quantities than typical SLS runs allow, Multi Jet Fusion is the ideal solution. It can print multiple parts simultaneously across the entire build volume, achieving production rates up to 10x faster than other 3D printing processes. MJF also delivers more balanced mechanical properties across all three axes compared to other powder-bed methods.
MJF produces accurate, durable prints while maintaining the structural integrity of traditional thermoplastics. This makes it an excellent process for testing fit and functionality before investing in injection molding tooling.
In the table below, you will find our standard MJF tolerances for prototype orders. These include one-off or first-time prints, non-production orders, and auto-quoted orders that have not received a manual engineering review.
MJF Prototype Tolerances Based on HP 5200-Series, Balanced Mode
Results are typical for MJF orders without additional engineering review.
HP MJF Prototyping Tolerances Our standard tolerances for prototype orders include one-off or first-time orders that have not received a manual engineering review.
HP MJF Engineer-Reviewed & Production Tolerances Tighter tolerances can be guaranteed after an additional engineering review. This is ideal for higher volume production orders that have been manually optimized by our engineering team.
HP MJF Feature And Build Size The maximum build size for MJF is 11.1″ x 15″ x 15″. Parts are designed to fit within this envelope. Please note that thin or broad parts may be prone to significant deviation or warp.

HP Multi Jet Fusion is a powerful 3D printing technology that produces highly accurate parts capable of being used directly in end-use production or for rapid prototyping. Similar to well-established 2D printing inkjetting, MJF offers much faster layer times compared to other powder-based 3D printing technologies.
Like other powder-based processes, MJF builds parts layer by layer. An inkjet array deposits a fusing agent onto a bed of polymer powder, which is then fused by heat into a solid layer. This process is repeated until the part is complete. Unlike SLS or DMLS which use a single laser, MJF deposits material and agents across the entire build plate in one pass, allowing for the simultaneous printing of multiple parts.

Get your parts delivered right to your door without the hassle of sourcing, project management, logistics, or shipping.

MJF can be used to create fully-functional prototypes, complete with moving parts, as well as all-in-one assemblies.
